Abdul Sm Rasheed
Chief Executive Officer
Just coming from NC State’s 2008 Emerging Issues Forum on “Energy and the Environment,” there is no better time than now to unite as
a community around the issue of environmental stewardship.
Working with a grant from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund and in partnership with the Conservation Trust for NC, the Initiative continues to make progress on conservation based affordable housing neighborhoods throughout the state. These developments preserve open space and save money on infrastructure, in addition to being more aesthetically pleasing. We believe that this is simply a smarter approach to housing development.
After much anticipation, I am pleased to announce that the first Enviro-Steel homes are officially on the ground in Kinston. Combining steel framing with passive solar technology, these homes are as sturdy and energy efficient as anything on the market.
Lastly, the Initiative has established a green development fund, allowing us flexibility to respond to opportunities as they arise. With the landscape and technology constantly changing, we are determined to remain on the leading edge. More details will follow as the year progresses, so stay tuned.
As always, we greatly appreciate your support!
