The Initiative works with policymakers, regulators, public agencies and partners across the state to ensure North Carolina’s policy and regulatory environment support innovation in community economic development and economic opportunity for all of the state’s citizens.

Initiative staff are also available to provide information on effective community economic development and policies and regulations that support it.

The Initiative encourages other community development organizations to advocate for supportive policies, regulations and funding for their work and communities.

A fact sheet, CDCs and Advocacy, provides a brief overview of state and federal laws, rules and regulations that govern how boards and staff of community development corporations may influence public policy.
