Feb. 26, 2013
The N.C. Center for Nonprofits hosted its annual Public Policy Forum and N.C. Nonprofits Day at the N.C. General Assembly Feb. 25-26.
The Center hosts these events each year to provide its member nonprofit organizations with an opportunity to learn about advocacy and to meet with their representatives to discuss their cause and issues that affect all nonprofits.
The 2013 Public Policy Forum covered topics such as:
Tips on effective advocacy
Update on policies and state budget and tax issues affecting nonprofits
A look at Governor McCrory’s priorities for 2013
How to keep up with the legislative session without being present
For N.C. Nonprofits Day, the Center provided a briefing on some key public policy issues for nonprofits, and then groups had opportunities to meet one-on-one with their representatives. Attendees also had the opportunity to watch legislative committee hearings and be recognized by the House and Senate for their essential work and economic impact in North Carolina.
