Durham Community Land Trustees to Host Community Land Trust 101

DCLT Community Land Trust 101
July 20 & 21Self Help’s Temple space, Durham, NC

For over 30 years, DCLT has used the community land trust model to foster long term affordability in Durham and to create barrier to gentrification. DCLT was established in the mid 1980’s by neighborhood West End residents who demanded better housing conditions. DCLT operates like a tight-knit, family-run business, managing 194 rental properties; leasing 52 homes to homeowners for 99 years (renewable) at a low monthly fee; and developing properties for seniors, veterans or individuals with mental illness who are very low income. DCLT is a chartered member of NeighborWorks America.

Featuring Selina Mack, DCLT’s Executive Director, and a DCLT property tour, the two-day symposium will cover topics including Working with Municipalities, Conversation 30 Years Later with Founders of DCLT, Rental vs. Home Ownership: When & Why, Maintenance & Stewardship of CLT Properties, Governance of a CLT: the Secret Sauce, and more. The symposium is sponsored by Grounded Solutions.
